Duncan Bannatyne White Widow ‘sighting’: One of the world’s most wanted terrorist suspects

Yarm businessman Duncan Bannatyne has said that his hotel’s CCTV has been scoured after a reported sighting of the world’s most wanted woman.

The “White Widow” Samantha Lewthwaite was reportedly spotted at Bannatyne’s Hotel in Darlington, owned by Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne.

He tweeted today that the ‘lady in question’ checked out on Boxing Day.

Someone tweeted Mr Bannatyne saying “I’d hardly refer to her as “a lady”” to which he replied “You do not know anything about the guest who stayed with us”.

Mr Bannatyne, who lives in Yarm, said the police have the woman’s car registration and were given a CCTV image of her.

A witness reportedly told police a woman – resembling one of the world’s most dangerous terrorists and also known as Sherafiyah Lewthwaite – signed into Bannatyne’s Hotel, in Darlington, on Boxing Day.

The 32-year-old mother of four is believed to have been behind last year’s slaughter of 148 by gunmen at a university in Kenya, say security chiefs.

A Durham Police spokeswoman said: “Police received a report that a woman said to resemble Samantha Lewthwaite, aka The White Widow, had checked into Bannatyne’s Hotel, Darlington, on Boxing Day.

“Inquiries are currently taking place in relation to the report.”

Interpol have a ‘red notice’ on her.

A spokesman for Bannatyne Hotels said they were not giving a response.
